PRESIDENT BRUCE EWANYSHYN RECEIVES SECOND CREDENTIAL

***Article Written by CPCA Registrar Chaplain Dave Field***

Chaplain Bruce Ewanyshyn, the President of the Canadian Police Chaplain Association was in Kamloops, BC on September 23 - 25, 2024, where he attended the Christian Ministers Association conference, with his wife Sheryl. They had travelled from their home in Prince Albert, SK in order to be recognized by the CMA and ordained through that organization.

Chaplain Ewanyshyn had already been recognized by another organization but since retiring from the Brandon Police Service, Bruce felt that he needed to apply to the CMA as he and Sheryl are a team, and the CMA would not only allow both to be ordained but also to open opportunities for the both of them.

The Christian Ministers Association requires a new member to be sponsored by another member before they will look at an applicants paperwork. The sponsor has to be someone who knows the applicant and can attest that not only does the person have a ministry but more importantly, they have the call of God on their lives.

Besides his excellent work as a chaplain with Brandon PS and the work Bruce has done while on the Executive of the CPCA, Bruce has been very involved with his local church and previously with a Christian motorcycle group. Sheryl has been by his side throughout their marriage not only as an encourager but also as a partner.

The CMA’s Board of Directors examined both Bruce’s and Sheryl’s application and wholeheartedly agreed that they would make an excellent addition to their Association. The Ewanyshyn’s trip to Kamloops was required so they could be commissioned and ordained into ministry.

Chaplain Dave Roch and his wife Phyllis (Dawson Creek BC RCMP Detachment) and Chaplain Dave Field (Mission BC RCMP Detachment) were also at the conference. They were able to encourage and pray over Bruce and Sheryl. Although President Ewanyshyn and Chaplain Dave Roch had fellowshipped with each other at previous CPCA Annual Training Sessions, Bruce and Chaplain Dave Field had only met via zoom calls and through emails. For Chaplain’s Ewanyshyn and Field it was a great opportunity to get to know each other better (and even though Bruce drives a Harley Davidson rather than a Kawasaki, Chaplain Field greatly enjoyed their time together!).

President Ewanyshyn is still an Honorary Chaplain with Brandon PS but since his retirement he and Sheryl are also waiting on the Lord for an additional assignment. Being ordained through the Christian Ministers Association will help open doors for further ministry.

Would all of you congratulate both President Bruce and his wife Sheryl on this milestone in their journey as they continue to serve not only law enforcement officers but all the other people they will be ministering to.

Congratulations to our President Bruce and his wife Sheryl as they continue to pursue God's will for their lives.

Thank you for your leadership and devotion to God and to those around you.

Your example makes an incredible statement to all who know you.

The CPCA is very blessed to have you lead us.

The steps of a good couple are ordained of the Lord.

Love and Prayers,

Charlie
