May I introduce you to Mr. Ryan Pilmer who reached out to the CPCA a couple of months ago with a request. Ryan resides in Halifax and was inspired to begin collecting Challenge coins through his uncle who serves as an RCMP Staff Sergeant with "H" Division in Nova Scotia. Ryan began his collection with RCMP Challenge coins and patches and is now seeking to expand his search through connecting with and collecting coins and patches from various agencies across Canada.
Ryan shared in his correspondence that he is 29 years old and has a rare genetic disorder called White Sutton Syndrome. While this disorder presents challenges, it does not prevent Ryan from living a good life with his parents and enjoying activities such as skiing, swimming and exercising. Regarding Challenge coins and patches, Ryan wrote, "I’ve always wanted to collect something of significance, and I’m happy to say that challenge coins seem to fit that bill."
There are opportunities that come along in life to bless persons by giving to support something they are passionate about. A few weeks ago, I wrote a letter to Ryan and added it to a package I shipped to him containing our CPCA Challenge coin and a Brandon PS Challenge coin. In return, I received an email from Ryan's mother, Anne, sharing the following remarks, "Thank you very much for sending our son a beautiful letter with two challenge coins. Collecting coins has been a wonderful hobby for Ryan and along this journey, he has met many dedicated police officers."
As police chaplains serving law enforcement agencies across Canada, I invite you to consider shipping Ryan a Challenge coin unique to the agency you serve. If you are up for the challenge, Ryan requests that you secure the Challenge coin in an appropriate package so that sorting machines do not displace the coin from its envelope. Ryan's mailing address is: 346 Toni Avenue Boutiliers Point, Nova Scotia B3Z 1X3 CANADA.
The top photo depicts Ryan holding the BPS and CPCA Challenge coins. The photo below is Ryan's collection which you will help to multiply through your generous donation. Together, let's continue to bring smiles to this young man's heart. Ryan shared that "every day I look forward to seeing what is arriving in the mail."
Warmest regards,
